Getting a head start on being healthy was the focus Livingston High School Thursday. It hosted its first ever health fair for students. Almost a dozen agencies took part.
Organizers say with five percent of young people in the U.S. now diagnosed with high blood pressure, highlighting health early is key.
"Obesity is the problem. Their diet is a problem," said Debra Williams of the Health Wellness Education Center. "They're eating a lot of foods with fat, with salt. Fast food restaurants, those things are contributing factors in high blood pressure. It can cause problems, kidney problems as they grow older. So, that's why we want to make them aware."
Free blood pressure, and height and weight screenings were offered as part of the health fair.
