Two 16-year-old males are being charged with reckless endangerment for an incident at Livingston High School Wednesday.

Both are being charged in youth court, so their names are not released.

Livingston Police Chief Ashley Welborn said one brought a 25-caliber handgun to school to show the other. It accidentally discharged in the gym, which was occupied by other people, Wednesday afternoon.

Welborn said the shot hit the bleachers and shattered, but no one was injured, nor was anyone targeted by the shot.

The chief said the two students may also face other charges.

Your can't blame the school system. Blame the parents of the child who brought the gun to the school. Where did he get the gun from? He got it frOm home. The school system can not raise our kids. We as parents have to do our jobs ( BE A PARENT AND NOT THEIR BUDDIES). So before we start pointing fingers at the school system, point them at your children when they do wrong.

don't blame it on the school systems....Put the blame where it belongs....the kids and the lack of discipline in the homes by their parents.

This is one of the reason that I am homeschooling my kids because the school system have failed our children. We need better people in the school system, I took my kids out of Sumter County a year ago because of a situation that occurred with one of my kids and they did nothing about it.
