A $200 art grant from the Community Foundation of East Mississippi is going a long way this summer.

The money helped start the first summer art enrichment workshop at Lamar School.

Third through fifth grade students have designed stepping stones and created other art that will be displayed around town.

"This art work will help the children to also learn to give of their special gifts and talents and to give back and make a difference to our community in a positive way," said art instructor Jan Trest.

The art created by the students will be displayed at Queen City Nursing Home and Hope Village for Children. Photos taken to document local history will be displayed at Lamar School.
