The Alabama House has approved Gov. Bob Riley's college scholarship plan. The bill passed 96 to three Tuesday afternoon. Now, it goes to the Senate for consideration.
The bill would provide scholarships to students with a "B'' average and 20 on the ACT college entrance exam.
The bill limits spending on scholarships to $120 million per year.
The House also approved the governor's bill to require state employees and education workers to pay more toward the cost of their health insurance. That bill is also headed to the Senate.
