Former Secretary of State Dick Molpus will receive national recognition for his work in education.
Molpus, a native of Philadelphia, Mississippi, is among a dozen educators, public servants and activists being saluted by the National Education Association on July 2 in New Orleans.
Molpus founded Parents for Public Schools with his wife, Sally, in 1991.
The Jackson-based group encourages middle-class parents of all races to enroll their children in neighborhood schools.
