The main topic of discussion at the Meridian Public School Board meeting Monday night was the possibility of creating a mandatory school uniform policy district-wide.
PTA president Connie Shannon said parents favor the idea.
"Overall the parents in the school system are concerned about violence in the schools, peer pressure among the students and other things that deter students from learning," said Shannon. "We think anything that will improve the environment, school uniforms will be one of the things that will help."
Shannon said a survey indicated a majority of parents support school uniforms. But the school board has not yet taken any action.
