Throughout this week members of the non-profit group, "Reach Ministries," will be in Meridian fixing houses in need of repair. All are from out-of-state and all are paying for their own expenses except for housing.
The Meridian Public School District is providing that. The students are staying at Kate Griffin Junior High.
"It's so beneficial to our community," said Dr. Janet McLin, Superintendent for Meridian Public Schools. "There are people who will have their roofs and screens repaired which they would not have been able to have done otherwise."
"There's a need for something like this in this area. I am just saddened by the fact that we want be able to serve the number of people that are really in need," said Earnest Smith, Local Coordinator.
This week the group is scheduled to repair 15 houses.
