Police Charge Suspect in Theft of Tahoe, Wildcat Costume

Meridian police detectives have charged a suspect in connection with the theft of a vehicle, which contained the Meridian High School mascot costume.

20-year-old Stanley J. Neal, III, of Meridian, was arrested Monday and charged with motor vehicle theft.

A tan 2001 Chevy Tahoe was reported stolen from the Bonita Lakes Mall area Sept. 23.

Neal is also charged with grand larceny of the Meridian High School Wildcat mascot costume,

The costume was later turned into MHS authorities by a parent of a Meridian School District student.

The vehicle was recovered undamaged a few days after the mascot was returned to Meridian High.

Neal's bond was set at $20,000 for each of the charges (Motor vehicle theft and Grand Larceny) totaling $40,000.

Both charges against Neal will be presented to the first grand jury to convene in 2010.
