Meridian Community College student Crystal Prewitt of Meridian is this year's recipient of the Les Wallace Scholarship.
The East Mississippi Manufacturers Association presented the award Thursday during its regular meeting.
"The scholarship winner is a work-based learning student from MCC, majoring in one of (the) occupational programs. These students are awarded college credit for their work experience," said work-based learning coordinator Irven Skinner.
The scholarship is in memory of Les Wallace, an electronics instructor at MCC, who was killed in an accident near the MCC campus in November 1998.
Prewitt is in the Business and Marketing Management Technology Program and maintains a 3.85 grade point average. She received a $1,000 scholarship from EMMA. The recipient's name will also be placed on a plaque displayed in Reed Hall at MCC.
