Students Prepare for New Location

Victor Hubbard is the administrator for the Meridian High School 9th grade. He has set certain guidelines that must be followed in the temporary MHS ninth grade building. Students can still expect to continue following those rules once they're in the new facility.

"The procedures and rules that we have, they will be carried over to our new location," said Hubbard.

One thing Mr. Hubbard says definitely won't change is his philosophy for education.

"My philosophy of education is to ensure that students receive, number one, a wholesome, quality education, where students are able to come to school and feel safe and have the freedom to learn in a safe and orderly environment," explained Hubbard.

Hubbard says he has high expectations of each and every student. He says those expectations, along with discipline, will carry on into the new school.

Right now, the ninth grade students are expected to walk on the right side of the hall, use inside voices, respect all adults, and be engaged in classes. Mr. Hubbard says that will not change.

"And everything that we have done at Kate Griffin has been nothing but success. We will carry that over to our new location. And what I've already communicated to the students is we're going to turn it up a notch," said Hubbard.

And by turning it up a notch, Mr. Hubbard means raising the bar.

"It's all about producing quality and positive results. And that's what we're going to do here at Meridian High 9th grade," says Hubbard.

I would like to say that I have a son at MHS 9th Grade and I am so happy that he and the students of MHS 9th Grade have an outstanding Principal Mr. Hubbard, and Assistant Principal Mr. Hagwood. I have seen Mr. Hubbard in action and I must say he means business. Mr. Hubbard's style of leadership should be echoed throughout the school district.
