With the end of the summer break just one week away, many students are enjoying their last days of relaxation. Teachers, on the other hand, are already preparing classrooms, lesson plans, and yes, the dreaded homework assignments for the new school year.
"Many of them have already been up here working on their classrooms. We always have a few new teachers each year. We have already met with them. We did a teacher orientation to make them familiar with Magnolia rules and procedures and try to make them feel at home," said Cythia Pouncey, principal of
One of the new programs for
"We think that is going to put the focus on education, help them be more comfortable and settle in when they start back to school," Pouncey said. "It's not about what they are wearing, but being ready for classes."
Students will be expected to bring a pencil and paper on the first day. Schedules will be handed out again for those who may have misplaced theirs. A message to parents: If you haven't picked up your child's registration yet, you need to do so as soon as possible.
Pouncey said it helps the school know for sure if the child is planning on attending a particular school.
