Students returned to school Monday in Kemper County. You may remember a fire doing significant damage to part of the high school campus in December 2011.
The repairs have not been finished so the school is still making use of portable classrooms for the time being.
High school principal, Calvin Melton, said he expects the construction to be complete and ready for students in January 2013.
Melton said the staff is excited about new challenges and expectations this year.
"We are getting off to a good start. Students were given expectations of the school, expectations about our mission and vision and we're getting to a good start," said Melton. "I believe that in order for us to have a successful year we all have to know what is expected of us. It has been given and we're ready to begin."
Melton says he also fully expects to see higher test scores this year.
