Some changes are coming for Lamar School in Meridian.
Officials announced that headmaster Shane Blanton will be leaving to assume another post. In fact, he will be the director of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools. Lamar is a member of the organization.
Blanton credited his 4 years at Lamar as the right preparation to move on to this next phase in his career. He said Lamar is one of the flagship schools of the MAIS.
"Academics are first and foremost here, with our families really preparing our kids to go to college," said Blanton. "And I've been just rewarded to have my own children here and to be part of that success."
Blanton says the MAIS goal is to strengthen its 120 member schools, which now serve 39,000 students in Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.
