Meridian, Miss. The contestants in the Distinguished Young Woman competition were out serving in the community Tuesday.
The thirty-five teenagers from across the state served meals at LOVE's Kitchen. It's one of several activities the girls participate in throughout the week in advance of the competition this weekend.
"We're doing it as a service project," said Taylor Phillips, Neshoba County's DYW. "We're giving back and it's showing us how blessed we really are."
The Distinguished Young Woman of Mississippi program will begin Thursday night at Meridian's Temple Theater. The finals will be Saturday night.
