Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club in Meridian to conduct an initiative for young men, designed to help them make better choices.
All young men ages 13-17 are invited to take part in this event Thursday.
Door prizes will be given away and motivational speakers will be on hand and there will be an open-floor discussion.
"We want to empower them so they can become independent and make an impact on the community," said member, Kim Houston.
"We see so many instances of violence with our young males, and I think that our community needs to rally around these young males, show them they are loved," said member Lasaundra Roberts. "We need to put some positive male role models in front of them and to show them there is a better way of doing things."
The event will be Thursday, Apr. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club.
