Meridian, Miss. Lauderdale County administrators met Tuesday to prepare for the soon-to-begin new school year. Principals and central office staff participated in a retreat.
Superintendent Randy Hodges says communication is important, especially since there are a number of new issues for the district:
"We're looking at dyslexia training in the curriculum. We're looking at some of the new mandates, getting ready for Common Core," said superintendent Randy Hodges. "That's going to be extremely important this year, because it's going to be new. We'll go fully Common Core this year. It's mandated by the state. We're looking at transportation. We look at all of it. "
Lauderdale County teachers report to work Aug. 1. Students return Aug. 6.
