Lauderdale County's Junior Livestock Show

Lauderdale County, Miss. Young people from across Lauderdale County who are involved in 4-H and FFA competed in 48th Annual Lauderdale County Junior Livestock Show Thursday.

They raised market goats, market steers, beef breeding, and market hogs. After putting in the hard work in raising the animals, this show is a way to shine and show what they've accomplished.

"These kids buy these animals, whatever specific livestock project they are interested in, when the animals are younger, and they raise them," said Nikki Jefcoat, Lauderdale County Extension agent. "Most of the projects lasting from four months to almost a year."

Participants who placed become eligible to advance to the Southeast District Livestock Show where they will compete against young people from several different counties.
