Meridian Public Schools named LaVonda Germany its Administrator of the Year.
The principal of Poplar Springs Elementary School was cheered by students as she was received a plaque and flowers from superintendent, Dr. Alvin Taylor.
Germany has been with the district 23 years.
Poplar Springs is a Star school in the state, and has improved steadily in the past 5 years that
Germany has been principal. She says she's glad to be able to make a difference.
"I get to be a small part of what goes on at Meridian Public Schools and what goes on here at Poplar Springs," said Germany. "And I just get to be, again, just that one little part that maybe that motivates my teachers or the kids. And I get to have fun each and every day that I'm here."
Germany will represent the Meridian district in the state Administrator of the Year program.
