MPS Puts Feet on the Street

Meridian Public Schools' staff got moving for the new school year Monday.

They participated in the 4th Annual Feet on the Street, knocking on doors and spreading the word about the importance of the upcoming school year.

Meridian High School principal, Victor Hubbard, says he believes the connection with the community through Feet on the Street has bolstered support for the school district and resulted in more positive attitudes among students.

"We're focusing in on our graduation rate," said Hubbard. "We want our community to know how important that all children have a high school diploma."

Meridian High School's Open House is Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students can get their schedules at that time and parents will have the opportunity to meet new teachers.
