The United States Marine Corps' Silent Drill Platoon performed at Linden High School during the first of its parental involvement meetings.
School superintendent Tyrone Smith says he wanted the community to see what discipline and determination can produce.
"They exemplify and exhibit the same principles as we do, as I indicated earlier, about motivation, precision, team work, hard work and things of that nature," said Smith. "So we wanted to let our people in Linden, and also to our children to understand in the event they do not have an opportunity to attend college then can find a better way, to be better citizens by joining the armed forces."
Smith said Linden has a tradition of winning. He welcomed the Marine Corps ' Silent Drill Platoon as an example of what it takes to win in life.
