Meridian Public Schools is making changes to the administrative staff at Magnolia Middle School that will also affect the high school.
Effective Jan. 4, 2012, Shannon Ruffin, currently assistant principal at MHS, will serve as interim principal of Magnolia Middle School for the remainder of the school year.
Current Magnolia principal, Rufus Wright, and assistant principal, Felicia Ruffin, will be moving to Meridian High School to serve as assistant principals under MHS principal, Victor Hubbard.
In a news release, the district said the changes are being made "due to the challenges Magnolia Middle School is experiencing in regards to meeting the goals set forth by members of the school board and the community".
"I want to assure the community of Meridian that we are doing everything possible to live up to our district motto, ‘Making Positive Strides Daily," said superintendent Dr. Alvin Taylor.
