Meridian, Miss. Teachers from across Mississippi gathered at the MSU Riley Center this weekend to actually learn a little bit themselves.
About 40 teachers gathered on the 4th floor of the Riley Center to learn more about Common Core standards and how to use them when it comes to teaching kids. The Common Core system has been used by many states and shows how important it is to engage kids in learning.
"We're showing how use of the arts to teach any subject in K-12 actually fits like a glove with the Common Core standards because in order to learn to think, which is what Common Core does, you have to get engaged in the work and you have to be active," Dr. Charlotte Tabereaux explains.
The event ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
