Lauderdale County, Miss. Students at Northeast Elementary School took part in Mississippi's Move to Learn program Thursday.
It is a free program offered to all the schools in the state. Move to Learn aims to get kids active during the school day.
Teachers may go online and download videos and use them any time during the day.
The program stresses classroom activity breaks, and the goal of those breaks is to get the children moving.
"In Mississippi, we have a set number of minutes that children must be physically active during the week," said Scott Clements, director of the Office of Child Nutrition. "This was a way to meet that goal and to help in the classroom at the same time, so we think we've got a win-win there. We've got kids up; we've got them active but we've got them learning better when they sit back down."
The star of those web videos, Coach Calhoun, came to Northeast Thursday. The program has 58 in-school requests from schools across the state this year.
