Ten new buses will be used this year in Lauderdale County Schools; the first two were delivered Wednesday.
Each of the four high schools will receive a new activity bus that will also be used for regular routes. These buses are designed to transport more children safer and more comfortably.
"It provides underneath storage, so you have more seating capacity to carry your ball teams or classes," said transportation director Roger Wright. "And they will travel in a degree of comfort because this time of year they are air conditioned, and they have air ride suspension so they will be traveling in much more comfort."
Wright says that all the new buses are replacing older 1998 models. The four high schools should receive their new buses in about a week.
