Meridian, Miss. Shoppers at Bonita Lakes mall in Meridian got a Yuletide surprise in the food court on Saturday afternoon.

Seventh through twelfth graders in the Newton County Middle and High Schools' choir took part in a flash mob, where they sang a number from their Christmas concert for those lunching nearby. One by one, more students across the food court joined in the song. Choir director Suzanne Cain says this was a great way to get into the holiday spirit.

"We get to share our gifts and our talents with the community. It's a Christmas song. We're singing, 'Joy to the World,' and everyone loves Christmas and loves that excitement," she says. "The students really had a good time today because it was the anticipation. That's another part of Christmas is that expectancy and waiting and the anticipation, and so all of that kind of came together for them with this song. "

Cain says the students have been looking forward to this performance for over a week.
