Meridian elementary students kicked off a week of state testing in a big way.
Crestwood Elementary students hosted a rally to stress the importance of the Mississippi Curriculum Test 2nd edition, or MCT2, which starts Tuesday.
Testing of grades 3-8 measures their proficiency in language arts and mathematics.
Fourth grade teacher Shevondra Clayton says Crestwood has high expectations, and the goal is for every student to score proficient or advanced.
"This spirit rally is kind of the final push of motivation and encouragement for our students to do their best on the test," said Clayton. "Not only are we preparing them for academic success in life, but we are preparing them to be productive citizens of society."
Clayton says the students started preparing for this testing back in August.
