Hattiesburg, Miss. Former Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates will speak Feb. 6 at the University of Southern Mississippi as part of a lecture series on international security and global policy.
The program will be held at the Saenger Theatre in downtown Hattiesburg.
Gates served as Defense Secretary between 2006 and 2011. He was director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 1991 to 1993. Gates currently serves as chancellor of the College of William & Mary. He is a former president of Texas A&M University.
The lecture series is a program of USM's Center for the Study of War & Society. It was created to inform and expand global awareness.
