Students at a local school were recognized for their testing performance on Thursday evening.
Northeast Middle School hosted a celebration in the school's gym to honor students who scored "Advanced" or who improved by ten points from last year. Principal Billy Burnham says a lot is expected out of the students and that it is important to take time to honor them for their hard work.
"The state accreditation model has enough growth built in that you can grow each year and that's the most important part of the new model, growth," Burnham says. "You have to meet growth as a school and we ask our students to meet personal, individual growth as well."
Northeast Middle School is considered a "High Performing" school.
