Newton County, Miss. Students in Newton County Schools went back to class Wednesday.
At Newton County Elementary, school officials say traffic was a concern going into the day, but everything ran smoothly.
Principal Danny Lindsley says the school is looking to establish a strong foundation for its professional learning communities.
"The success of any organization is that individual commitment to excellence, said Lindsley. "Our teachers have that. They work very hard, our parents and our community. Just look forward to working with them and having a great year. We had a great year last year and hope we continue to do that this year."
Around 875 children are enrolled at the elementary this year, which is slightly up from last year.
