A parents committee, Stand Up for Public Education, is sponsoring a summit and rally in Livingston in support of public education.
The group is advocating passage of a 4 mill ad valorem tax increase, with the money earmarked for the Sumter County public school system for technology, academics and a sports complex.
The meeting will be held at Sumter Central High School in Livingston Apr. 22, starting at 6 p.m.
The ad valorem proposal will be on the June 3 ballot.
