School is back in session for local students, and Sumter Central's principal says this year, preparation is key.
The principal says when it comes to upcoming exams, students can be more ready by working not just in class, but also at home. And teachers are getting their pupils ready for major exams by incorporating more time limits on in-class tests.
"Have our kids reading every night, writing, doing things they can use their critical thinking skills because again, we understand the difference between the graduation exam that we had last year or the year before last and the upcoming act exam is time," Principal Darrell Woods says.
Principal Woods says while the graduation exam has no time limit, the ACT does have time restrictions, so students will often come in frightened. He believes this will help them to come in without being quite so nervous.
