The rest area on U.S. Highway 49 South in Wiggins will be dedicated Tuesday to Dizzy Dean.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation dedication of the Dizzy Dean Rest Area is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The Mississippi Legislature approved the naming of the site for Dean.
Dean was a Hall of Fame pitcher who did radio broadcasts in St. Louis and for the New York Yankees before moving to Game of the Week network telecasts in the 1950s and 1960s.
He died in 1974 and is buried in the tiny community of Bond about five miles north of Wiggins.
Dean played for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs from 1932 to 1941. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1953.
