Enterprise Falls in State Final

The Enterprise Lady Bulldogs' day in Jackson got off to a rough start and ended in disappointment.

In game one, Josh Perkins' squad was run-ruled by Eupora, losing 12-2. The Lady Bulldogs rebounded to force a third game with an 11-9 win over the Lady Eagles.

In the deciding game, Enterprise was trailing by a run with one out in the bottom of the 7th inning when Baleigh Volking drew a bases-loaded walk, plating Haley Brooke Smith. The next batter, Bayleigh Creel, popped foul to the left fielder and Blair Hennington tagged up from third.

As soon as Hennington slid across the plate, the Enterprise dugout emptied and the celebration of the winning the state 2A slow-pitch championship was underway. An appeal by the Eupora coaching staff that Hennington left the bag early took the run off the board and ended the 7th inning with the score knotted up at eight.

The real celebration belonged to the Lady Eagles after they knocked off Enterprise 11-10 in 10 innings.

It was hard for the girls to understand how they could have won and then lose!! But they fought through all the adversity and almost won the 2nd time.. Congratulations to the Lady Dawgs for a great year and you truly are CHAMPIONS...

Hey I think that coach Perkins should do an appeal because what the Lady Eagles did just didn't make any sence. The Enterprise Lady Bulldogs do deserve that trophie because they did all taht work, if it takes a replay let them play cause the Lady Eagles didn't do any thing to get that trophie. Thank you, Quintessence McDonald

okay.First of all.Eupora did NOT knock off eneterprise. The coach of Eupora said that blair left early after we had already been celebrating our VICTORY!Second of all when blair slid across the plate THE UMPIRE CALLED BALL GAME! THEN we emptied the dugout and celebrated our WELL DESERVED win!So, the REAL champions are actually ENTERPRISE!I personally think those umpires were the worst we could possibly have and I hope no other team ever has any near as horrible as they were. But, thats just my opinion.

I agree with Malauri! We won that game. We have proof; even if Blair did leave early, WHICH SHE DIDN'T, the umpire called "ballgame." Once you call a game, you cannot start again. WE WON THAT GAME! WE ARE THE REAL CHAMPIONS!

The way that the Enterprise girls softball team was done Saturday at the State Tournament was horrible. I really don't know how an umpire can officially end a game, allow a team to celebrate, and then take it back from them. I have never in over 35 years of playing and watching sports seen such an obvious display of deception. To deprive those Enterprise girls of what was actually their win in the first place has brought new meaning to the phrase, "Lack of intellectual acuity," or another term I dislike using, "An abundance of stupidity." In this case what else fits? The Enterprise girls are truly winners. They went back on that field with composure and fought hard for three more unnecessary innings to, yet again, have it stolen away due to more irresponible officiating. Hats off to Coaches Perkins, Dewitt, and the 2A State Champion(?) Enterprise Girls Slow Pitch Softball Team. You Know?!?!

We didn't fall in that game. We won it. Ask anybody. We were cheated and the head coach of Eupora had his way the whole game and he couldn't stand to see us win it so he went over there and made up a challenge to see if he could win it. The umpires agreed with him because they had done so the entire game. We won that game no matter what anybody says!
