Jamont Gordon scored a game-high 21 points and had three assists to lead Mississippi State to a 75-45 win over Louisiana Tech Saturday in the season opener for both teams.
Charles Rhodes had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (1-0) and Barry Stewart chipped in 13 points. Ben Hansbrough added 11.
Gordon finished the game 7-for-14 from the field and 3-for-7 from beyond the arc.
The Bulldogs have now won 19 of their last 22 season-opening games and eight consecutive home games.
Louisiana Tech (0-1) turned the ball over 22 times and shot only 27 percent from the field, the lowest allowed by Mississippi State since the Bulldogs held Loyola Marymount to 21 percent in a game last November.
Tech out-rebounded the Bulldogs 52-46 but it wasn't enough. Kyle Gibson was the only Tech player to score in the double digits with 15 points.
