Last year the Lamar football team left Clinton with an eight-point loss int he MPSA Class AAA (Division II) state championship game.
After earning a trip back again this season, the Raiders were ready to right the ship and bring home the school's second state title in five years.
Lamar faced Washington School at Mississippi College Friday afternoon for the crown.
Andrew Watkins threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns, while Chris Williams led the ground game with 124 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown as the Raiders won the state championship 19-16.
Taylor Allen sealed the deal with a quarterback sack as time expired.
