Jimmy Oliver passed for 245 yards and two touchdowns in leading Jackson State to its first conference title game in eight years with a 31-19 win over Alcorn State Saturday.
Oliver also ran for 111 yards as Jackson State (7-4, 7-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) ended a four game losing streak to Alcorn State, amassing 538 yards of offense.
Lavarus Giles ran for 146 yards and scored twice for the Tigers, the SWAC East division champion.
Jackson State will face Grambling in the SWAC championship game on Dec. 15.
Alcorn (2-8, 2-7) ended the season losing three of its last four games. Tony Hobson passed for 350 yards and three touchdowns for Alcorn, but the team committed 12 penalties and had three turnovers.
Giles' 1-yard run late in the first quarter gave Jackson State a 7-6 lead that started a string of 24 unanswered points. Giles also scored on an 82-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter that Jackson State ahead 24-6 with 12:30 left in the game.
Oliver's touchdown passes came on a 35-yard strike to Jaymar Johnson in the second quarter and a 24-yard pass to Terrance Jones in the fourth.
