Jeremy Wise scored 19 points and Southern Miss swept the Gulf Coast Classic with an 86-61 victory over Alcorn State Thursday.
The Golden Eagles (8-3) beat the Braves (1-10), New Orleans and Louisiana Tech in the tournament and have won five straight overall.
Southern Miss used a 14-0 run fueled by two Wise baskets to jump to a 16-2 lead and take control.
The Golden Eagles shot 70 percent in the first 15 minutes, scoring 22 points in the paint even though center Gjio Bain missed his second straight game with a foot injury.
Southern Miss led 48-26 at halftime and Alcorn State never threatened while turning the ball over 23 times.
Wise also had seven assists and both Sai'Quon Stone and R.L. Horton scored 14 points. Brandon Cook chipped in eleven.
Alcorn State's Richard Griffin scored 19 points while Jarvis Williams added ten for the Braves, who failed to win a game in the round-robin tournament.
