Charles Rhodes scored a season-high 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Mississippi State to a 95-70 win over Texas A-and-M-Corpus Christi Friday.
Rhodes, who was 10-of-16 shooting from the field, registered his fourth double-double this season. Barry Stewart scored 19 while Phil Turner and Jamont Gordon added 13 apiece for the Bulldogs (7-5).
The Bulldogs took a 51-40 halftime lead, then went on an 8-0 run early in the second half to put the game out of reach.
The Islanders (2-7) were led by freshmen Kevin Perkins, who scored 19 points, and Justin Reynolds, who had 18. William Bullard chipped in 13 points.
Mississippi State shot nearly 51 percent from the field while the Islanders shot just over 38 percent. The Bulldogs outrebounded Texas A-and-M-Corpus Christi 44-29.
