Mississippi marine officials have approved a 13-inch limit on speckled trout in the three coastal counties.
The action yesterday (Tuesday) was a slight revision to limits put in place in December when the Commission on Marine Resources voted for a 13-inch limit in Harrison and Hancock counties and 14-inch limit in Jackson County.
The 13-inch limit now applies to all three counties.
Recreational fishermen had supported a 14-inch limit.
Scientists with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources had advised against the change.
The new limit will go into effect February 16.
