Alcorn State Drops 5th Straight

Chris Davis led five Southern players in double figures as the Jaguars beat Alcorn State 86-67 Saturday.

Davis had 27 points and nine rebounds for Southern, which is 8-12 overall and 6-3 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Alcorn is 3-19 and 2-7.

The Jaguars led by as many as 19 points in the first half, which ended 43-31.

But Alcorn fought back, tying it at 50 on a free throw by Alex Owumi with 14:31 left and going ahead with 13:28 left on a 3-point shot by Jarvis Williams.

Davis made two free throws and Julius Ingram two more to put Southern ahead for good at 54-53 with 13:02 left.
