The fifth-ranked University of West Alabama baseball team returned to the win column on Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers (5-1) took two from Georgia Southwestern at Tartt Field, 12-1 and 12-7.

With two on and one out, Jeremy Finney singled and advanced to second on an error by the center fielder, as Jeremy Dorrance scored. After Tres Avans reached on an error, Jake DeRoy was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Rob Dahlberg. Nick Wheeler then followed with a single to center field to plate Phillip Merryman and Finney. The final run of the inning came on a Matt Busbee sacrifice fly to right field, plating DeRoy.
GSWU (1-5) dented the scoreboard with its only run in the seventh inning before the Red and White added its final run of the contest in the eighth inning as Dallas Rogers singled up the middle to score Brian Simone.

Wheeler, who reached on a fielder's choice that erased DeRoy, stole second and later scored on a Matt Busbee triple to center field to conclude the inning.
UWA added one run in the fourth and two more in the fifth before igniting a five-run sixth inning.
Back-to-back walks by Clint Moody and DeRoy started the inning. One batter later, Bumgarner advanced to second and Rea scored on a failed pickoff attempt. The final blow of the inning came on a Dahlberg single to right center to score Bumgarner.
