Ben Uzoh scored 18 points and helped shut down Southern Miss' leading scorer as Tulsa rolled to an early lead and cruised to a 78-63 win over the Golden Eagles Saturday.
Tulsa (11-10, 3-6 Conference USA) took a 40-15 halftime lead as Uzoh scored 12 points while limiting Southern Miss' Jeremy Wise to four points on 1 of 7 shooting.
Wise finished with 21 after a late flurry, once the game had long been decided.
The Golden Hurricane held Southern Miss (12-11, 4-5) to 17 percent shooting in the first half while making 60 percent of its own shots.
It was the lowest first-half total this season both by the Golden Eagles and any Tulsa opponent.
Jerome Jordan had 17 points and seven rebounds, Brett McDade had 13 points and Calvin Walls had 12 points and nine boards for Tulsa.
R.L. Horton had 14 points and Sai'Quon Stone added 10 for the Golden Eagles, who remained winless on the road this season.
