For the next two weeks athletes from all over the state will be here in Meridian for the State Games, the biggest amateur sports festival in Mississippi.
"We have all of the sporting events booked and we have a lot of athletes throughout the week," said April Luke, executive director.
Over 5,000 athletes will be here, ranging in age from four to 91.
Three new sporting events this year are high school baseball, youth baseball and barrel racing.
To make sure every athlete stays safe during sporting events, Rush Hospital, a founding gold sponsor, is providing athletic trainers at the games.
"Our Rush sports medicine team provides assistance and makes sure it's an injury free game," said marketing director Amy Ford.
