Mississippi State will play Oregon on Friday in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Mississippi State (22-10) is the eighth seed in the South Region in pairings announced Sunday. If the Bulldogs beat the ninth-seeded Ducks (18-13) in Little Rock, Arkansas, they could face top seed Memphis in the second round.

Mississippi Valley State (17-15) will meet West Region top seed UCLA on Thursday in Anaheim, California. It is the first time the Delta Devils have been to the tournament since 1996.

As expected, Mississippi (21-10) did not make the NCAA field.

Instead, the Rebels will host UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.
