Ricky Bowen was in complete control Sunday when he launched a two-hit shutout as Mississippi State (8-9, 1-2 SEC) defeated Mississippi (13-5, 2-1 SEC) 4-0.

Bowen (2-2) had an 8 and 2/3 innings no hitter. In the ninth, Michael Hubbard had a line drive single through the left side of the infield. Cody Overbeck then extended his hit streak to 18 games by legging out an infield hit.

Nathan Baker (1-2) pitched four-plus innings, being lifted after a leadoff walk in the fifth inning. Baker allowed four hits and two runs (both earned), with three strikeouts and three walks.

Mississippi could have swept the Southeastern Conference season-opening weekend series after twice defeating Mississippi St.

Mississippi's latest victory of 11-6 was on Saturday.
