Green Leaves Mississippi Valley

James Green has left Mississippi Valley State after three seasons to become the new coach at Jacksonville State in Alabama.

The school will hold a news conference Wednesday to introduce Green. The hiring was announced in a news release over the weekend.

Green spent three seasons in Itta Bena after eight seasons as coach at Southern Miss. He led the Delta Devils to the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament championship this season and a first-round matchup with top-seeded UCLA in the NCAA tournament. It was MVSU's first visit to the tournament since 1996.

Green replaces Mike LaPlante, who was fired after going 95-137 in eight seasons at Jacksonville State.
