Houston (26-17, 8-7 Conference USA) had tied the game and later retook the lead with solo home runs in the fourth and fifth innings by Bryan Tully and Jake Stewart.
J.R. Ballinger (4-0) worked 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing only two hits to pick up the fourth win of the season.
