LSU pounded out 16 hits, including four homers, to beat Mississippi State 16-4 Saturday and win its 11th consecutive Southeastern Conference baseball game.

LSU (34-16-1) continues to lead the SEC West with a 14-11-1 mark.

MSU dropped to 20-31 and 7-19.

MSU will try to avoid being swept in the weekend series when Game 3 is played Sunday at 1 p.m. It will be the final regular-season game at Alex Box Stadium, which will be replaced with a new stadium next year.

Ryan Schimpf paced the Tigers with a 4-for-4 afternoon. The second baseman hit two homers and drove in four runs.

MSU starter Ricky Bowen (3-6) was knocked out in the fourth inning. He gave up 10 hits and nine runs.

Tyler Moore hit his team-leading 13th homer of the season for State.
