U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi met Thursday with Little Rock, Miss., native Kortney Clemons in Washington, D.C.
Clemons lost his leg in combat in Iraq and became the first Iraq War veteran to qualify for the U.S. in the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing.
Clemons was on Capitol Hill to promote a program to develop paralympic community-based programs across the country.
Clemons was ABC News' 2007 Person of the Year.
