STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Aaron Weatherford pitched 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and Ryan Duffy and Russ Sneed hit home runs as Mississippi State beat Arkansas 6-5 Thursday night.
The last-place Bulldogs (22-32, 8-20) snapped the Razorbacks' five-game winning streak and hurt Arkansas' chances of catching LSU, Alabama and Mississippi in the Southeastern Conference Western Division race.
The top eight teams will make the SEC tournament and the Razorbacks (32-21, 13-14) remain in eighth place with two games remaining. Arkansas entered the weekend two games behind LSU and a half-game behind its other rivals.
Weatherford (3-0) entered in the top of the seventh inning and struck out three, allowing just one hit. Duffy's solo homer to center field in the bottom of the inning secured the win.
